The World's most famous cycle race, the Tour de France, came to Yorkshire in 2014 for the opening two stages. I was lucky enough for the race to come right through the Holme Valley where I live. I became involved in community projects in the lead up to the event and captured the action and atmosphere on Holme Moss as the cyclists raced by.
Here's a look behind the scenes captured on my camera.
My images of the street decorations that adorned Yorkshire villages along the route of the famous cycle race were featured during both the live ITV coverage and recorded highlights programmes during stages 1 and 2 of the Tour de France.
My photos were broadcast 50 times throughout the weekend of the Grand Depart 2014 by ITV.
As a result, my photos reached an international audience and showcased the ingenuity of Yorkshire folk in taking the Grand Depart to their hearts

This project was organised by local charity Friend to Friend, who improve the lives of older people.
I was part of a team who built a giant jersey on a hillside at Meal Hill Farm, Holme village, as part of the Yorkshire Festival celebrations.
The jersey was made up of 54 squares, each designed and created by a local community group.
The jersey was built in the field, which took hours to do in very hot weather! I took photographs of the final result and one of my images was featured on a postcard design and sold to raise funds for Friend to Friend.

I was delighted to participate in the Yorkshire Festival fringe programme in a joint exhibition with local artists Jeff Beaumont and Bruce Mulcahy entitled 'A Grand Tour of the South Pennines'.
Tour de France 'trail-blazers' from the Holme Valley were chosen to attend the Deputy Prime Minister's Tour de France Reception at Admiralty House, Whitehall.
I was lucky enough to be nominated to attend this event as a result of capturing many of the preparations for the Yorkshire Grand Depart on camera and my enthusiasm for working wtih various community groups on all things TDF in the Holme Valley.

I was delightedc to take part in the first cultural festival to accompany the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race.
My vast collection of photographs documenting the Yorkshire village decorations displayed on the route of last year's Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Tour de France were exhibited at the Carlisle Institute in Meltham. In addition, my exhibition included images of the amazing Grand Depart on Holme Moss.

I collaborated with the Sporting Memories Foundation and Welcome to Yorkshire on a special event celebrating the first anniversary of the Yorkshire Grand Depart at Leeds Town Hall.
The Sporting Memories Foundation uses the power of sporting reminiscence to unite generations and to help tackle dementia and loneliness.
My images of the Tour de France and many Yorkshire villages were shown on the big screen at Leeds Town Hall alongside Welcome to Yorkshire footage and Sporting Memories' interviews.
As official photographer for the day, the highlight was to photograph Brian Robinson, the first Briton to win a stage of the Tour de France in 1958 with the Tourmakers!
