As I regular contributor of weather photos to the Look North & national weather bulletins, I was invited to be one of the first to test out their new crowdsourcing weather reporting system designed by the BBC. I submitted weather reports and photos to the new Weather Watchers' website & was amazed to see one of my photos featured on The One Show as part of the BBC's official launch of BBC Weather Watchers. I was thrilled to see my photo being discussed by Matt Baker & Alex Jones in The One Show studio!
As a pioneering BBC Weather Watcher I was invited to help launch the new concept on Radio Leeds, when I met Paul Hudson after many years of submitting weather photos to him. We were interviewed by Andrew Edwards on Drive Time. It was an amazing experience to visit the Radio Leeds studio and to play a small part in promoting BBC Weather Watchers, encouraging everyone to join the club.
BBC Weather Watchers celebrated its first anniversary in 2016 and I was thrilled to be invited to take part in a live interview with national treasure Carol Kirkwood during BBC Breakfast talking about my experiences as a weather photographer. During the interview a selection of my Yorkshire & Peak District photos were screened, and later the same day my work was showcased on BBC News 24, when weather presenter John Hammond discussed my work over the past year, as seen on the BBC.
I was thrilled to take part in a BBC Look North film to celebrate the second anniversary of BBC Weather Watchers. Abbie Dewhurst, weather presenter at Look North, joined me on one of my photography walks with my border terrier 'Crumble' around the Holme Valley. The resulting film was shown on BBC Look North.
