In 2014 Yorkshire hosted Stages 1 and 2 of the Tour de France Grand Depart. I was lucky enough to spend Stage 2 on Holme Moss, soaking up the atmosphere before the race, watching the spectacle of the TDF caravan entertaining the crowds of spectators; hearing the roar of the helicopters heralding the cyclists were on their way, then the whoosh of the cyclists as the peloton raced up Holme Moss. An unforgettable experience. We certainly gave the Tour de France a very grand Yorkshire Welcome!
